Free home contents insurance: The ultimate benefit for IDA student members

When you are on a student budget, you need to prioritise your expenses. Many choose to opt out of insurance, and hope that nothing happens. Understandable, but smart? At IDA, we know that the last thing students need, is to worry about what to do if their bike gets stolen or a laptop is soaked in energy drink right before exams.

That is why IDA has chosen to make the Home Contents insurance FREE for student members. And it stays free for the duration of your studies and a whole year after graduation. And don´t worry; your coverage is just as good as the regular non-student policies, including personal liability. And the best part is, your flat mates are covered as well (as long as you are no more than 3 people in the household).

All IDA student members get free access to IDA Campus, an online learning platform offering courses for students and graduates. With IDA Campus you get an upgrade in programming languages that are used in your study. If your professor rushes through introductory courses you are not that familiar with, you don´t need to worry: IDA Campus has got you covered. You can take the tailored courses in your own time, pace and place, whether it be to keep up during your studies or brushing up for exams.

The coures are subtitled, so you can take them no matter your Danish proficiency.

On a tight budget?

Many of our international students are not eligble for SU (Danish student grant), and even those on grants and scholarships do need to manage their budget pretty conservatively to afford everyday items. But there is an upside to student life; there are plenty of discounts available – clothing, textbooks and gifts are just some of the good deals you can make with an IDA membership.

International members get discount codes every month in the IDA for Students newsletter, which includes Boozt.com, E-cooking and Shaping New Tomorrow amongs others. Find information on these and other student dicounts at IDA for mobile plans, banking advantages etc. on our Member benefits page where you can sign up for the newsletter, if you haven´t already done so.

social and academic events for students

Life outside of studies

You might wonder what an IDA membership is good for while you are still studying. A whole lot, if you ask students who have attended and IDA event before graduating. IDA is not only a place where you get career advice and salary checks. A balanced study life is full of adventures and events, and that´s what we want to give you.

This year, one of our flag ships and most popular event – IDA Comedy – is coming in an English version. We are very excited to present you with laughs and a good night with you fellow students. If you want to understand the Danish job market, our career advisors are out on campus across the country with presentations on getting that first job – both student and graduate. And if you need to wind down after a long day of studying there is always social events such as windsurfing, paintball, G&T tastings and ceramics evenings to mention a few.

All events are easy to sign up for and very affordable. IDA student members can often attend for free or at a very budget-friendly price. You just use your Mit IDA login and register.

Considering a student job?

It might not be the first thing on your mind in the introductory weeks. But when that time comes, and you want to know what you might expect in terms of salary and benefits, where you can find a student job and how to present yourself to possible employer, IDAs career advisors are ready to help you.

You can also prepare beforehand by reading our material and watching videos on how to write a cover letter and resume, and what to do about salary negotiations on our From uni to job platform. Here you will also find tips and advice on topics such as doubts, competences and networking. Take a look through the material, and you get qualified help when you contact your career advisor.
