Congratulations on your admittance to your study abroad programme. During the introductory days and weeks there is a lot to take in. And it can be both joyous and overwhelming.
That is why IDA is there for you, whenever you need us – from day one of your studies and all the way into your first job. We are a trade union and the largest academic and social community for students in STEM.
When you are a student member of IDA, you get access to everything you need during your studies – whether you need to upgrade your skills, take a break with your study group or access to companies and insider tips to the Danish job market.
Your student membership is DKK 0 the first year and non-binding. After the first year, your membership fee is DKK 20/month.

What is IDA?
IDA is Denmark’s largest interest group and trade union for people working and studying in IT, natural sciences and engineering. More than 38,000 students are already members of IDA.
We strive to provide you and your fellow students with a strong academic and social community.
You get full access from day one of your membership; whether you need to strengthen your skills, take a break with your study group or get inside tips to the job market – all the way during your studies, when you are looking for your first full-time job and after.
About the student membership
To become a student member, you must be enrolled in an engineering, IT or science education. The membership is free the first year and non-binding. Thereafter, is costs only DKK 20 per month.
When you have completed your first year as a member, you will be charged DKK 120 per. halfyear. These charges occur in October and April. To make the payment of your membership fee easier, you can sign up for Payment Service.
Who can become a member?
You can join IDA if you study a program in either IT, natural science or engineering.

What can I use IDA for while studying?
Events
We arrange a lot of events for students throughout the country all year round.
You get access to free study courses, gin tasting, wall climbing, investing for students and IDA Comedy and much more. The vast majority of events are at SU-friendly prices or free.

Counselling
Did you know that you can use IDA when you want to have your contract read through before signing and receive a salary check when you apply for a student job?
Are you in doubt and do you need an overview of what your education can be used for? We can advise you if you need insights into your future job market from someone who knows what to expect and what you are entitled to.
You can also contact us if you experience troubles in your studies that the student counselling office can´t help you with. Together we can find ressources that can help you back on your feet.

I have registered in connection with a gift campaign. When will I receive my gift?
The gift campaign runs from 25 July 2024 until 31 October 2024. If you experience challenges during this period, see the following:
Have you chosen a gift card as your welcome gift?
You should then have received a receipt by email stating that you will receive your gift within three working days.
If you have not received the email receipt or the gift card within three working days, you can contact Member Services on phone 33 18 48 48 or contact us at this contact form.
I signed up for a student membership, but there was no gift option - what do I do?
Gifts are not guaranteed as part of your membership signup. Sign up outside the campaign period is without a gift.
But you still receive all the benefits – cash discounts, tailor-made study events, free access to the IDA Campus, Denmark’s best student account with IDA+Lån&Spar and a free Home Contents insurance for the entire duration of your studies as well as many other member benefits.
