IDA Mentor – a mentorship programme for new graduates and students

At IDA, we have a mentorship programme aimed at new graduates at the beginning of their careers. The mentorship programme matches you with a mentor in a 1:1 course for a duration of 6 months. In order to become part of IDA's mentorship programme for new graduates you must not have more than two years of work experience.

Moreover, we have created a pilot programme for students who wish to boost their student life.

Why get a mentor?

A mentor is your personal sparring partner who, in a professional and academic relationship, helps you handle career opportunities and challenges. There can be many reasons why a mentor is relevant for you right now. Especially if you are new to the job market and need guidance on settling in properly, it may also be that as a student you want support to develop academic and personal skills, so you can boost your student life.

Mentor programmes

  • The 6-month mentor programme, which is for our recent graduates with a maximum of two years of experience, as presented above.
  • The 9-month mentor programme, which is for all members with more than two years of experience.
  • The 6-month pilot programme is for students.

Pilot programme for students

IDA is now launching a new pilot programme for students (6 months).

Registration

You register for the mentor programme by creating a user on our mentoring platform. When the next round starts, we will “let you in” on the platform, where you can create your mentee profile. For example, if you create a user in December, you will be able to fill out the mentee profile and choose a mentor around February 2nd.

There are a limited number of spots on a first-come, first-served basis, and the deadline is March 3rd. Register here for IDA’s mentoring programmes.

It is important that you fill out your profile thoroughly regarding what you want to work on in the programme. Based on your profile, you will be presented with two to three potential mentors, from whom you can request one to be your mentor. Remember that your profile can be read by several mentors, so do not write private or sensitive information. If you find a good match and the mentor accepts your request, the registration is then binding. Naturally, IDA cannot guarantee personal chemistry between mentor and mentee.

The mentor and mentee meet 4-6 times over a 6-month period. The meetings typically last 1 1/2 hours, and it is your responsibility as a mentee to prepare the agenda.

After match

After the match, you will be invited to a mentor Kickoff Event in Copenhagen or Aarhus along with the other matched mentees and mentors at the start of the programme. Additionally, there is a Mentor community meeting in May for all current and former matched mentors with a relevant theme for mentors and a subsequent light meal in Copenhagen and Aarhus (provided there are at least 12 participants).
