How to access the counselling service

If you experience stress, anxiety, or a decline in well-being related to your studies or student job, you have quick and free access to professional psychologists through your union.

To access the scheme, you must be referred via IDA. You can do this by:

  • Calling IDA on 33 18 48 48, or logging in to MitIDA and filling out the form with the subject "Work environment, well-being, stress, and offensive behaviour", so we can contact you.

  • Having a brief conversation with one of our advisers.

Together with you, our advisers will find the best support for your situation, which may include psychological first aid.

If you are referred for psychological support, you will receive a link to our partner, We.Care, where you can register on their secure server. Here, you will be assigned a psychologist, and you can then arrange your sessions directly with them.

All sessions are completely confidential and will not appear in your other health records.

We help you create balance in your student life

Academic life can be challenging, and international students can be at risk to extra stressors as a result of being in a completely new setting without a known and trusted network as well as managing language and cultural barriers. Taking care of mental health is very important and we understand that at IDA.

Coping and thriving during your studies can be many things; establishing a network of peers, partaking in events with your fellow students and prioritising your time in your new studies, so that things don´t leave you overwhelmed. These things can be great ways of taking care of your mental health.

However, are you experiencing longer-lasting states of anxiety, stress, depression or a lack of well-being in relation to your student life, don´t hesitate to contact IDA. Your are not alone.

Students like yourself contact us daily with issues that have grown bigger than they are able to manage themselves. The most important thing is to acknowledge it and reach out before the challenges become too big to handle.

IDA can help you with techniques to balance your everyday life, how to handle a lack of well-being in your studies, to prioritise your time in an academic setting and to transition well from one point to another.
