We are with you all the way

Academic life can be challenging, and international students can be at risk to extra stressors as a result of being in a completely new setting without a known and trusted network as well as managing language and cultural barriers. Taking care of mental health is very important and we understand that at IDA.

Coping and thriving during your studies can be many things; establishing a network of peers, partaking in events with your fellow students and prioritising your time in your new studies, so that things don´t leave you overwhelmed. These things can be great ways of taking care of your mental health.

However, are you experiencing longer-lasting states of anxiety, stress, depression or a lack of well-being in relation to your student life, don´t hesitate to contact IDA. Your are not alone.

Students like yourself contact us daily with issues that have grown bigger than they are able to manage themselves. The most important thing is to acknowledge it and reach out before the challenges become too big to handle.

IDA can help you with techniques to balance your everyday life, how to handle a lack of well-being in your studies, to prioritise your time in an academic setting and to transition well from one point to another, for example from uni to job.

FAQ

Read more information about the offer, terms and requirements below.

IDA student members have access to a number of benefits that can help you if you lack well-being in your studies. Psychological aid is one of these offers.

When you call IDA or fill out the form and are referred to the free psychological aid, you will get three online consultations with a processional psychologist specialised in the challenges students face. You can also write to your psychologist 24/7 as needed, and they will contact you as quickly as possible during office hours.

It is important to note, that the benefit is not a full treatment, but access to psychological first aid that gets you a consultation quick and gives you tools to handle challenges you are faced with in your academic life.

It is our experience that the offer of three consultations is enough help for a majority of our members – often times it is merely about preventing a potentially longer and more complex treatment.

Should you need more help than is provided with this benefit, we will make sure to help you find fitting solutions. You are not alone in this.

All IDA members have access to the free benefit with some restrictions.

To gain access you must call IDA at 33 18 48 48 or fill out a contact form in Mit IDA. If the mental health aid is the right solution, an IDA adviser will refer you to our partner, We.Care. Note, this offer is only free if you go through IDA channels.

When you call or fill out the form, you will talk to an adviser and together you will figure out what course of action is best to help you in the situation you are in.

Because this offer is only one of many offers IDA has to help students in your academic life, we want to make sure that it is the right offer at the right time.

Maybe you find out that you need to contact your student adviser or own doctor first, or you need some other form of help.

The conversation with an IDA advisor can uncover what will be the best course of action for you in the short run, and how IDA can help you in the long run. We want to offer the right help at the right time, so that you can thrive in your academic life.

Note, the psychological first aid is free only if it goes through IDA channels.

We have partnered up with We.Care to offer student members free, easy and accessible psychological help online, when you are referred through IDA.

We.Care has a selection of psychologists that are trained in taking care of challenges you face in your academic life.

When you sign up through We.Care´s secured server, you will be appointed a psychologist and receive tools to help you regain your balance and live the life you want to.

It is paramount to IDA and We.Care that you feel safe. You can always request to speak to someone else, if you do not feel secure with the appointed psychologist. And that is completely OK. Your consultation and your well-being is primary.

The consultations are in confidentiality and will not appear on your health records.

You can write to or talk to your appointed psychologist via video as you would a traditional consultation. Everything is through a secure and encrypted  platform, custom designed and developed to provide you and your psychologist with a secure and safe experience.
